Martina lost 100 pounds. After battling the pounds since she was a pre-teen, she found success in her thirties. Connecting with inspirational messages and loving herself has been key to her journey. It’s been about personal development as well as weight loss for her. Check out her story.
After dieting my entire life, from the age of 12. I met a coach who told me that I could do it and I never stopped. Now, I just want to let women know anything is possible.
What was your motivation?
My motivation is life. I want to live a fulfilling and happy life for me and for my children. Ever since I was a little girl, I hated being overweight.
When I wanted to give up on this journey, I prayed for strength. I listened to and watched motivational speakers and inspirational people who have overcome hardships. I surrounded myself with likeminded people. My favorite motivational speaker is Eric Thomas (you can find him on YouTube). Believe me there were many set backs along my journey. I just refused to give up.
How did you change your eating habits?
Changing my eating habits was not easy. I started with adding protein shakes to my diet. Then, slowly, I stopped eating bread and limited my sugar intake to only fruit. I eventually stopped eating meat, not because I had to but because I wanted to. I only eat fish and tofu now. I also use Herbalife protein shakes and tea, along with eating healthy meals. I also researched how to eat and came up with my own meal plans.
What did your workout routines look like?
My workout routine consists of jogging at least 2 miles a day and doing at least 30 minutes or weight training. I workout 6 days a week with one day of just walking.
Starting weight/Current weight
At my biggest, I weighed 270 pounds. I lost 30 pounds on my own before I started my new lifestyle in 2014. Today, I weight 170 pounds. (I lost 76 of those pounds after meeting my coach) My height is 5 ft 3 inches.
How long did your transformation take?
I started at the age of 16 and I kept falling. 22 years later, at the age of 38, I got a trainer for a few months and started my nutrition journey in the summer of 2014. It took me one year to transform and I’m still on my journey.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
It starts with you working on you, from the inside out. You have to fall in love with yourself first. Only then will you be able to change. Personal Development is Key. Don’t ever give up on something you want, no matter how many times you fall. Just keep getting back up until you have reached your destination.
