Linda lost 60 pounds. She didn’t let a diagnosis of diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol get her down. She worked with a nutritionist, got some form of exercise each day and did what had to be done. Check out her story.
I’ve been heavy all my life. Recently, I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, High Blood Pressure and High Cholesterol. All of these are dangerous within themselves, but together can be a lethal combination. Once I saw just how high my blood sugars rose, I knew something had to be done.
I met with a diabetic nutritionist and developed meal plans based on the number of fruits, vegetables, meat and dairy that I could have per day. I combined that with lots of water, some with cucumbers, some with apple cider vinegar. I’ve also learned that I have to take some ME time out and get some form of exercise in daily. I’ve found that walking is the best fit for me.
I started out at 283 pounds. I’m currently weigh 223 pounds. I’m 5’3″ tall. I’ve been on this journey for about 6 months now. So, in another year (maybe less) I’ll be at my goal weight of 165 pounds.
My advice for anyone desiring to lose weight is not to put it off, or place something or someone ahead of your need to care for your body. Don’t think about diets; think about changing your eating habits. Substitute sugar free items wherever possible, or at least choose something with a sugar that’s better for the body. Avoid excessive carbs and starches; they’re full of empty calories. Make your calories count for something.
One thing that my nutritionist said that really works: If you bite it, write it; if you drink it, ink it. Writing down everything you eat well cause you to take a good look at your eating habits and want to make a change.

I have lost 20kg and still nowhere near my goal. My question is does everyone who loses alot of weight have to have surgery to remove the excess skin. My personal trainer says not but I am feeling the “sag” in my breast and excess skin around my stomach. Honestly I am not keen on going under the knife but I would like to know the options and if there is anything I can do to avoid it now
