Transformation of the Day: Lauren lost 51.8 pounds. She wanted to see what would happen if she didn’t give up. She has kept her promise to herself for almost a year and it has really paid off. Calorie counting and tracking her meals with MyFitnessPal has been very helpful. Check out her journey.
What was your motivation?
I’ve struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. My motivation for losing the weight was the fact that I’ve never completed this goal before. I wanted to see what would happen if I didn’t give up. I wanted to prove to myself that it was possible. Even though I’m not done yet, this is the longest I’ve tried without giving up!
How did you change your eating habits?
I am a recovering fast food addict. I’d eat fast food sometimes twice in one day. I decided last July that I could no longer eat fast food at all. I treat it like a drug addiction. I also started logging my caloric intake on My Fitness Pal and have consistently logged every meal for almost a year now. I try to stay around 1200 calories per day. MyFitnessPal/calorie counting has been the most helpful tool in my journey. I must also mention how important it is to drink LOTS of water! I have incorporated more fruit and vegetables into my diet. I tend to avoid red meat. I eat mostly turkey, chicken or fish.
What did your workout routine look like?
I started out just doing something, ANYTHING, active each day. For example, walking my dog, doing a quick YouTube workout, etc. Eventually, I started using my gym membership. I currently do a push/pull/leg split as well as lots of cardio (elliptical or walking). I workout around 4 times per week. Using my Fitbit has also kept me really cognizant of how much activity I’m getting.
Starting weight/Current weight
My starting weight was 215.8 pounds and my current weight is 164 pounds. My height is 5’2″.
When did you start your journey?
July 1, 2015. It is an ongoing journey, but I’m almost at the 1 year mark.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
If you start with the attitude of “I need to lose 30 lbs in 2 months!!” you’ll likely fail. Give yourself time, be patient and stay consistent.

Awesome job. I need to stick to this for at least a year to see what I could achieve.
