Update: Angel has lost almost 100 pounds.
Transformation of the Day: Angel lost 90 pounds. She recently turned 45 years old and wearing a bikini for the first time was part of her celebration. After years of emotional eating, the end of a marriage and a healthy lifestyle transformation, this single, empty nester is ready to start the second phase of her life. Check out how she took action.
My name is Angel B. I recently celebrated my 45th birthday and I am truly excited to share my weight loss success. My story is twofold. It started 13 years ago when I was finally sick and tired of being fat and miserable. I was in an unhappy marriage and raising 3 young sons. I got up and did something about how I was feeling. I completely changed my eating habits and got active. Through diet and exercise, I managed to lose about 95 pounds. This was a true life style change I was able to keep it off for over 10 years.
Then part two of my story happened. Life happened and for the first time in a very long time I lost focus. In 2012, I was laid off from a career I had been in for 12 years. Then in 2013, I lost two family members within months of each other. I again turned to food for comfort. Over the next couple of years I put back on about 35 pounds.
I decided at the beginning of 2016, that I would not be fat again so I got back on the wagon and adopted a clean eating lifestyle. My goal was to be back at 145 pounds by my 45the birthday. I didn’t quite meet that goal, but I am ecstatic with my loss of 30 pounds and I have a renewed spirit. On my birthday, I headed to the beach wearing a bikini for the 1st time ever in life.
June brings a new challenge and trainer! I’m super excited about the 2nd half of my life as a single empty nester and ready to experience my healthy life!
What was your motivation?
ME! I woke up one day and decided that I didn’t want to be fat anymore.
What inspired you when you wanted to give up?
I never wanted to give up. I didn’t go on a diet, I just changed my lifestyle.
How did you change your eating habits?
I stopped emotional eating. In the past, I ate when I was happy, sad… basically for any reason. I also immediately stopped eating ice cream and stopped drinking Pepsi. Eventually, I eliminated red meat and refined sugar from my diet. I follow a clean eating diet. I eat very little processed food, lots of veggies, grain-fed poultry and fish.
What did your workout routines look like?
I typically do 30 minutes of cardio followed by 30-45 mins of weight training. I workout 3-5 days a week.
What was your starting weight?
240 pounds the 1st time around. Then after the weight gain, 2 years ago, I weighed 181 pounds.
What is your current weight?
150 pounds
What is your height?
5’2″
How long did your transformation take?
The first time around, I lost 90 pounds in about 8 months. Most recently, my 30 pound weight loss took less than 3 months.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
It’s simple. You have to change your mind. Once you change how you think about food, it loses its control. You also have to WANT to make a change, and not just do it because someone else told you that you need to.
