Update: Sheneka has lost over 50 pounds!
Transformation of the Day: Sheneka lost 44.2 pounds. Sick and tired of taking pre-hypertension medication, hating how her clothing fit and feeling like she looked pregnant, she decided to start making some changes. She shared with us about the actions she taken to shed the pounds.
My Get Fit journey started after I got tired of being overweight, taking medication for pre-hypertension and looking like I was pregnant. On February of 2015, I weighed 220 pounds. My waist measured 44 inches and my height is 5 ‘3.5″. I also hated the way my clothes fit on me.
I began eating clean and exercising 4-5 times a week to reach my goals. I did cardio only at first, but for the last 2 months, I’ve been doing cardio and lifting weight. My fitfam motivated me and I was inspired by @justrobin, @fitdastruggle and @gorjess_20 on Instagram.
I started eating more fruits and vegetables. I cut out high fat red meat and pork. I only ate fish, chicken and ground turkey instead. Occasionally, I had a sirloin or New York steak. I also count my daily calories and nutrition using a calorie count app. For cardio, I use the elliptical machine, arc trainer, stair master, do HIIT or jump rope.
The fact that my clothes fit me better is great motivation. Having better health and seeing my weight loss progress has kept me motivated as well. I now weigh 175.8 pounds and my waist is 35 inches. That’s a total of 44.2 lbs gone. I’ve almost reached my goal. Now, I want to build lean muscle, lose another 5 inches from my waist and tone my legs and butt. I no longer take my medication every day. I only have to take it when I don’t exercise, which is only two times a week.
The biggest lesson that I’ve learned is to NEVER GIVE UP. Everyday is a new day to get it right! I hope to inspire and motivate others to reach their goals. Trust the process, but know that if you don’t plan to succeed, you plan to fail!
