Update: Shout out to Aisha! She lost 60 pounds and has worked hard to maintain her success.
I have surrounded myself with people with similar goals or those who are already where I want to be. We continuously motivate and support one another. I’m truly grateful for my friends, family, and FitFam.
I have lost a total of 60 pounds since I started. I currently fast 18 hours a day and try to eat natural foods outside of fasting time. Water has always been essential during my weight loss journey.
I workout 5 to 6 days a week. I run, do boxing, and participate in boot camps. I also had an IT BAND injury that I am overcoming. I had to slow down on training and up my physiotherapy for a bit. Gradually, I worked my way back to where I am.
I have remained pretty consistent with fitness. However, I had moments/months of binge eating. The greatest battle isn’t the workouts but fueling our body according to our fitness goals. There are always temptations, but we have to remain focused on what we really want. It’s a lifestyle, not a quick fix. Consistency has always been key. I know what it’s like to stop, but this time, I’m in it for the long run.
Transformation of the Day: Aisha lost 52 pounds. Check out her journey.
Starting weight: 238 pounds
Current weight: 186 pounds
Height: 5’8″
I wanted to share my story with you in hopes that it could be an inspiration to others. My name is Aisha. Just over a year and a half ago I decided that I was sick and tired of being sick and tired, and took a leap out of my uncomfortable, comfort zone.
I look back to the start of this process and realize that I had no idea it would be so AWESOME! I’ve transformed from the inside-out, lost over 50 pounds and I’m in the best shape of my life. I also have grown spiritually and emotionally by faith. Today, I am supporting others to achieve their fitness goals.
My lifestyle change hasn’t always been easy. I slipped, fell and dusted my knees off before anyone could realize it. There is no challenge without change! Always believe in YOURSELF, you can do so much more than you think!
What inspired you to keep going when you wanted to give up?
Knowing where I came from and how fatigued I was. That is the situation I knew I didn’t want to go back to. By committing to this change, I found a part of me that I had lost for awhile. My family and friends also played a huge part in my journey. To be honest, at first I think they believed in me more than I did, and for that I’m so grateful. My accountability partners are amazing as well. Now, I’m a Fitness Coach and I love my job! God placed us on this earth for a purpose. How can we fulfill it if our vessel isn’t healthy. I’ve really learned to appreciate the importance of health, perseverance and determination
How did you change your eating habits?
I use to use being a busy parent as an excuse. I use to eat out with my family all the time….it was quick but I didn’t realize those foods were causing more harm than good. I was having triple triple coffees, coke, greasy foods and drinking minimal water. I was also overindulging with chocolate and eating large portions of food at all the wrong hours.
I began eating clean, watching my portion sizes and eating more often to boost my metabolism. I went from triple triple coffees to black coffee and grew to really love drinking water. Minimizing processed foods was important. There are a lot of natural wholesome foods out there to enjoy that really help our mind and our bodies. Cooking healthy meals takes less time than jumping in a car, grabbing fast food and driving home. I still enjoy treats, but now I do it in moderation. This is not a diet, it’s a lifestyle and we have to live and be flexible.
What did your workout routines look like?
I worked out 5 to 7 days a week following a cardio/strength training from home. It only took 30 minutes a day and before I knew it, it became a habit. I started with 21Day Fix and since then continue to use several different Beachbody programs. I now jog , do bootcamps, strength training, zumba and kickboxing.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Whatever dreams you have can turn into goals and be achieved if you just take that first step. It’s a lifestyle change….we may slip but as long as we have the determination to persevere…..we will get back up. We’re worth it!
