Transformation of the Day: Latoya lost 141 pounds. After giving birth to her daughter, her blood pressure would not go down. When an allergic reaction to blood pressure medication sent her to the hospital for 3 days, she decided to make a change. Now, 4 years later, changing her eating habits and exercise has really paid off for her. She is celebrating tremendous success and sharing her journey with us.
I have always struggled with my weight my entire life, from the early age of 4 and up. I’ve tried tons of diets, but I was never able to stay motivated. After I had my daughter in 2010, my blood pressure would not go down. I was placed on blood pressure medicine which caused me to have an allergic reaction. My lips to swelled up and I was put in the hospital for 3 days. At the time, I weighed 294 pounds. That’s when I knew that I needed to make a change, not just for me but for my daughter as well. My cousin/best friend since birth (literally) started her fitness journey as well, and now we push each other daily.
I cut out all the food that are high in fat, like egg yolks, peanuts, coconut and avocados. Yes, all the good fats, lol. I try not to eat white bread, sodas and candy, but of course I have my weak moments. I’m human.
I first started working out using Shaun T’s Insanity DVDs. I did that for about 3 weeks and I felt like death! It was to much! So, I started walking around the neighborhood, which turned into slight jogging. I would work out at least 3 times a week for about 30-40 minutes. The weight just kinda started melting off.
Every time I would hit a weight loss plateau, me and my cousin would make a bet for something small, like buying a outfit. That caused us both to work harder. Now, to help keep us motivated, we work out with The Biggest Loser’s Cardio Max DVD for 35 mins, and then we jog around the neighborhood.
I started my weight loss journey in March 2012 and it has definitely been a transition. The one thing about my journey that I would go under the knife and have surgery for would be the loose skin that’s on my arms and my stomach. As I work harder and increase my workouts, I can actually see an amazing difference in those areas. At this point, I will just keep toning those areas. However, in the end I would like a breast lift and augmentation. I am not a fan at all of implants, but with my weight loss being so drastic I’ve literally dropped from a DD cup to a small C cup.
My whole journey has been worth it! I’m 28 years young and I weigh 153 pounds at 5’2″ tall. I’ve never been happier in my life!
