Transformation of the Day: Cecilia lost 84 pounds. This busy mom of 2 was faced with low energy, weekly migraines, knee pain and back pain. She was tired of fad diets and decided to give a local fitness and nutrition program a try. She got the direction she needed and now she’s sharing her story with us.

cecilia weight loss story

In March of last year (2015), I was a mom of twins who was overweight and always tired. I was unable to run around and participate in my twins’ sports filled lives. I suffered from weekly migraines, back and knee pain and had tried every crash diet or fad diet out there.

My cousins encouraged me to come try a Max Fitness class based on the success they’d found with the program. After making a ton of excuses, I finally decided to go. I threw up the first night. I was disappointed in myself, and embarrassed as a former athlete, that I had allowed myself to get to this point.

Since joining MAX, I have overcome so many physical and mental hurdles and seen progress in terms of workouts and proper nutrition. I lost approximately 60 pounds in less than a year. I have also gained muscle and lost countless inches. I am stronger and able to do so much more. I can do push-ups, sit ups, plank, jumping jacks, mountain climbers… and the list goes on. I originally joined the program to be able to play basketball with my twins. Now, not only can I do that, but I can do so much more. I work out 5 days a week for 45 minutes a day. I also commit to 10k steps a day with my Fitbit Surge.

I log all my food on My fitness pal to keep track of my eating habits. I changed from eating fast food (convenient) and junk foods (sweets and chips were my weakness), to having salads, protein shakes, very low carb foods, vegetables and fruits. Before, was eating over 3000 calories a day and now I stay between 1200 to 1400 calories a day. I should also note that I stopped eating later at night. Now, I do not eat after 7pm.

I weighed 302 pounds in March of 2013, and as of today I weigh 218 pounds. I’m 5 foot 10.

Here is my advice to those out there who think they can’t do it and those who haven’t taken that first step: Start small and believe in yourself. Make small changes and do not expect to see change overnight. Allow yourself the room to have some setbacks and do not forget to celebrate your successes.

I know the feeling. I was in dire need of losing 100 pounds. I even went to Dr. to consider the weightloss surgery. I got really scared, as a single mom of twins and decided I couldn’t risk a complication. You can do it.. just start walking, and change what you eat. IT will be slow and steady but you will keep it off and you will be motivated by your accomplishments. start by just walking a mile a day? Find a friend or family member that can hold you accountable by walking with you or checking in with you. YOU got this! One day at a time.. that is why I say Body Under Construction.

Thank you so much. My father recently lost over 50 pounds himself! For a man over 66 that was huge too! I am motivated by so many. I have to keep it up , no choice in my mind anymore. Mostly because I never know who may be watching 🙂 Thank you so much for the compliment! Be blessed.
