Weight Loss Story: Kaysia lost 51 pounds. This young lady was determined to release the pounds. By counting calories, working out and burning lots of calories, she was able make lots of progress in about 9 months. Check out what she shared with us.
I wanted to feel comfortable in my body. I wanted to be able to go to the beach and feel okay with being in a two piece suit. I was at a point in my life where I couldn’t even wear a one piece suit comfortably andI had to add shorts on top because I didn’t like my thighs. I guess I was just tired of being that one obese girl when most everyone around me was in shape.
My motivation was that I’ll be going off to college soon, so I wanted to look the best I could and feel comfortable around people. In my opinion, there’s nothing worse than being invited to the beach or to a party where everyone is wearing dresses and not feeling comfortable enough to join in on the attire.
I changed my eating habits by cutting calories. I know that some people don’t believe it works, but I am living proof that it worked for me. I was eating about 1,300 calories a day. These calories weren’t just anything though. I discovered that to be able to maintain my blood sugar and energy throughout the day, I needed to eat lots of nutrient-filled foods. I would also exercise quite a lot. In the mornings, I would get on my elliptical for an hour and burn 1,000 calories. Then during my lunch break at work I’d get back on the elliptical and burn more calories. Then after work I’d go on hikes with my dog. I also biked to and from work. So, in an average day I was eating 1,300 calories and burning roughly 3,000.
I started my transformation at 220 pounds on June 3rd, then made it down to 180 pounds by August 15th (height: 5’8″). During the swim season, I decided to maintain my weight for the remainder of the school year, but I managed to lose another 11 lbs by eating 1,500 calories a day and burning 400 calories a day. Currently, I weigh 169 pounds. My goal is to be around 160 pounds, perhaps a little less.
The main part of my transformation was two months but I’m still slowly losing weight to attain my goal before I go off to college. My advice to others is to never give up. I know that sometimes it seems impossible, but that’s not true. With the right amount of determination anything is possible. I’ve never had any surgery, taken any weight loss pills or gone on any specific diets. I didn’t cut carbs either. I just cut calories, added more healthy foods into my life, and exercised my butt off… literally.
