Weight Loss Transformation: Jammell lost 70 pounds/5 stone. This London sista stared her journey in 2012 and although she’s had some recent health issues, she is still on the grind. Healthy eating, walking and running made the difference. Now, she is an avid runner and she’s ready to share her story.
My name is Jammell. I managed to lose 5 stone (70 pounds) through healthy eating and long walks.
I started my weight loss journey along with my sister in 2012. My starting weight was 15 stone, 10lbs (210 pounds). I am 5ft, 2 inches tall. I decided to lose weight due to one particular stranger on the street shouting the word hench out if the window of his car. (Hence: “(Of a man) strong, fit, and having well-developed muscles”)
I was deeply offended and decided it was time to lose some serious weight. I started by switching my breakfast and lunch to fruit, along with eating low fat yogurt and porridge. I traded sugar for honey. In the evening, I would have veggie burgers with either salad or steamed vegetables.
For exercise, I started walking started at least 4 miles a day. Then, I increased it to walking 12 miles a day. I lost 28 pounds in 6 weeks. In total it took 9 months to lose 5 stones. I didn’t have any surgery, I lost it just by sheer hard work.
My advice for others: Lose weight when you are truly ready to. Find what’s suits you, exercise wise. Not everyone can walk or run. You have to find out what works for you.
I’ve gained some of the weight back, but my lowest weight was 139 pounds. My current weight is 164 pounds. I gained the weight after getting ill with my appendix, but I am currently losing that extra weight as we speak. I am now an avid runner and have been running for 2 years.
