Transformation of the Day: Jovanka lost 81 pounds. She wanted a healthier lifestyle, all around. Seeing the success stories of other women who were transforming their lives let her know that she could do it too. Check out what she shared with us about how she took action to change her life.
What was your motivation?
My motivation was that I wanted to live, think and eat healthy. At the same time I was also seeing other women who were overweight lose the weight and I told myself that if they could do it, so could I.
How did you change your eating habits?
My meals changed drastically. I eat healthy foods. There are times when I cheat, but then the next day I make sure to drink only nutrient-rich fluids so that my body can have a chance to remove what I had eaten the day before. I also look for examples of healthy meals, detox drinks, healthy smoothies etc. on Pinterest.
What did you stop or start eating?
I stopped eating potatoes, rice, bread, pasta, sugar, salt and I stopped drinking soda. I do eat just a little bit of the foods I just mentioned, but just once a month. However, I definitely don’t drink soda anymore.
What did your workout routines look like?
Every morning I go for a 30-minute walk, and three times a week (Monday, Tuesday and Friday) I would go to the gym for an hour. 4 times a week (Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday), I go for a 30-minute walk in the evening.
Weight/Height
My starting weight was 112 kg (246.9 lbs).
My current weight is 75 kg (165.3 lbs).
My height is 1.63 m (5 ft 4 inches).
How long did your transformation take?
It took me almost a year. I started on January 19, 2015 and by December 19, 2015 I weighed 75 kg. In 11 months time, I had lost 37 kg (81.6 lbs).
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Never ever give up! If I can do it, so can you!
