Weight Loss Transformation of the Day: Deborah lost 70 pounds. This talented makeup artist and busy mom was giving her energy to everyone else, but not making time for her health and wellness. That all changed. She started making simple, straight forward changes to achieve her weight loss goals. Check out what she shared with us about her journey…
I’ve decided to share a bit of my story in hopes that I can motivate others. Almost weighing in at a very heavy 290 pounds (I’m only 5’3), I realized that it was time to take back my life. Facing health issues and pregnancy complications, such as high blood pressure and gestational diabetes, I knew that there was something that I was doing that was killing me slowly. I’d let myself go. I was so focused on being the best wife and the best mom that I totally forgot to take care of me. I didn’t make the best choices for my diet, I barely slept, and I never made time to be active. I gave all my time to my family and friends. Alcohol and unhealthy home cooked meals were also factors of my weight gain.
Finally, I said enough is enough. The first step I made was to be mentally fed up with the route I was going. I then made small changes to my diet. I started by cutting out unhealthy food choices, such as soda, bread, pasta, and sweets.
After a month, I decided to get up every morning and do some of the basic exercises for 30 minutes. I did jumping jacks, sit-ups, walking, push-ups and I used the “Just Dance” on the Wii to get moving. I stayed consistent, and the results came. I got addicted. I started to see a new me. My confidence and self-esteem finally matched the girl on the outside.
I took back my life. It’s been 3 years now and I’m still not done. I’ve made mistakes, gained weight, lost weight, given up and more, but it hasn’t stopped me from having the will to keep going. Today my workouts are far more advanced and with the help of my personal trainer, @darealworkout923, I’m sure I will reach my goal. After losing about 70 pounds, I can finally say I’m a little more than halfway to my goal.
I’m here to motivate women to take back their life. It’s ok to invest in yourself and not feel guilty. It’s time to restore the self-esteem and confidence that we’ve lost while trying to please others. Know that it’s a journey, not a quick trip. It’s going to take some time. Stay focused and never get discouraged. Every setback is an opportunity for an amazing comeback! Don’t give up!
