Weight Loss Story: Ebony lost 136 pounds. At 357 pounds, this proud mom wanted to take steps to avoid illness and be as healthy as possible. She slowly began embrace healthy habits and now, 3 years later, her life has changed. Here is what she shared with us about her journey.
My name is Ebony Hollis. I’m a 37 year old mother and a wife. I started working out in 2012 weighing in at 357 pounds. I did not have any health issues, but I knew that if I continued on this path on having an unhealthy lifestyle I would soon become unhealthy. So, I decided to make a choice and began to work out and change my eating habits slowly. Initially, I struggled with it because I wanted to lose about 50 pounds really fast. I got frustrated because that didn’t happen. Once I came to grips with the fact that it was not just a diet, that I had to change my life and make it an everyday thing, I started to see results.
Now, here we are 2015 currently and I weigh 221 pounds. I still have not reached my overall weight loss goal, which is 200 pounds. However, I strongly believe that through my commitment to good choices I will reach my goal. My overall motivation has been just to be healthy.
My workout routine consists of a minimum of 3 days of cardio and 2 days of weight training. I tried to get in some dance classes throughout the week too, just to mix it up. My eating habits consist of eating four to six small meals throughout the day consisting of a lean protein, a complex carb and a veggie. I also have plenty of water, green tea and I take a multivitamin.
The advice that I would give somebody who is looking to work out or lose weight is Patience. It didn’t take you a couple weeks or couple months to put on all the weigh, so it’s not going to take you a couple weeks to take it off. Be patient, be consistent and it will happen. Get plenty of rest and stay positive.
