Weight Loss Transformation of the Day: Keisha lost 90 pounds. This UK Sista from the Caribbean was determined to beat depression and change her life around. After battling the pounds since childhood, decided to do what she could with what she had and now she’s celebrating her new life. Here is what she shared with us…
I’ve always been overweight ever since childhood. I’ve struggled with weight loss since the age of 13. I usually floated around the 240-250 pounds mark. Due to living rough, I lost a lot of weight but I was still very unhealthy. After the birth of my twins, My weight went up to 295 pounds due to a bad break up and I fell into a horrible state of depression. Of course, the infamous postpartum ‘baby weight’ helped me pack on the pounds as well. One day I woke up, looked in the mitror and didn’t recognize myself. I cried because I had really let myself go. I felt like I had failed myself, my children and my family. I couldnt go on just surviving, and I say surviving because I wasn’t living. That day I vowed to do what I could with what I had to make a change. I was determined to win.
I pretty much jumped right into my weight loss journey. I started jumping rope, walking more and doing the hula hoop in my back yard. I couldnt afford a gym membership so I had to make due. I worked out 5 to 6 days a week for at least 45 mins or 2 hours at the most. I cleaned up my eating habits, got sufficient rest and started drinking a lot more water. I stopped buying white sugar, white bread, white rice and pasta. I filled my fridge with fruits, vegetables and hummus (Lol, I put hummus on everything!). I stopped frying food and instead I broiled, baked or grilled it. I ate mostly seafood and skinless chicken for protein. I made meal plans for myself and I stuck to them. Thursdays were my treat days, when I had one ‘unhealthy’ meal unapologetically.
…And after 9 months…..well….. this happened.
I started at 275 pounds and I currently weigh 185 pounds (height: 5’7″)! That’s 90 pounds lost! I’ve never felt better in my life! I just want my fellow fluffy lovies to know that if I can do, so can they. With proper lifestyle changes and daily self motivation sprinkled with determination, you have the recipe for success.
