Update 2018: Shout out to Lucy. She lost 42 pounds.
Update Jan 2016: Lucy has lost 8 more pounds for a total of 37.6 pounds gone. Read more about how she did it below.
Weight Loss Story of the Day: Lucy lost 29 pounds and she’s 62 years young. Working in a hospital, she’s seen the devastating effects of diabetes first hand. So, when she was diagnosed with pre-diabetes, she knew it was time to focus on her health and get fit. She reached out to an online training program and her hard work has paid off. I love her determination and I love that she didn’t let a bad knee stop her! Here is what she shared with us about what she did to make it happen…
Starting weight: 221.6 pounds
Current Weight: 192.2 pounds
Height: 5’7″
Total weight loss: 29.4 pounds
Representing: North Carolina
What was your motivation?
I was diagnosed with pre- diabetes and since I work in a hospital, I have seen the effects of diabetes on the body. This is why I wanted to get fit.
What inspired you to start your weight loss journey?
The pre-diabetes diagnosis and a friend asking me to be in her wedding. After seeing the tremendous amount of belly fat that I was carrying in that dress, I knew I needed to step up my game.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started reading food labels when I was shopping, making sure my food was not mostly fat without any nutritional value. I started buying more whole grains, fresh vegetables, fruits, chicken and fish. I stopped eating fast food, beef and pork. Of course I switched to no sweets, white bread, rice or white potatoes too. I started eating a lot of fresh fish, chicken and started roasting vegetables. Now, I love berries, melons and greek yogurt. I do not drink soft drinks, only water and one cup of coffee a day with no cream.
What did your workout routines consist of?
I followed the plan designed for me by my online trainer, King of the Fire, while my Nutritionist monitored what I ate. I did a lot of endurance training, strength training and HIIT training, 4-6 times a week.
How long did your transformation take?
I’ve been on the “Fitness on Fire” Online Training Program for 3 and a half months now.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Keep pushing yourself. I am 62 years old now, but I wish I had tried harder to stay in shape when I was younger. I did not say “thin” necessarily, I said “in shape”! Stay away from fast food because although it is cheap upfront, it can create a lifetime of health problems. Get your body moving, read labels, eat fresh vegetables, fruits, fish, chicken, whole grains and prepare your food for yourself. On weekends, cook in bulk so when you are in a rush you still have food to eat already prepared.
Why is this program working for you?
The accountability to the directors of this program. They have managed to incorporate the eating piece and the exercise piece together perfectly. They also monitor you constantly with feedback on what is right and what you can improve upon. When I have the meltdown days, they manage to help pull me back up with encouragement. Also, the feature videos of others members on the program keep me pumped. I love the “Fitness on Fire” Online Training Program. Hats off to Nutritionistguru and Fire!

Didn’t think this was a possibility at this age . At 62 (going on 63) I am feeling my limitations and thought I was just to old to get into better shape, you are an inspiration . Thank you I am so very grateful for your story.
