Weight Loss Success Story of the Day: Marcee lost 64 pounds. This petite mom walked away the pounds and changed her eating habits all at her own pace. She lost the weigh over the course of two years and knows that slow and steady wins the race.
What was your motivation?
My motivation was my overall health. Diabetes runs deep in my family and I wanted to make sure that I wasn’t another victim. Also, I was very tired after doing simple tasks, no energy. I have a small child to care for, so something had to change!
How did you change your eating habits?
I started small. I cut down on sodas and drank more water. I finally got to the point where I just didn’t buy them anymore. I also kept incorporating more fresh fruit and veggies into my diet. I didn’t remove everything at all once. I went at my own pace so that I wouldn’t give up too easily. I also started using portion control with my meals.
What did your workout routines look like?
Again, I started easy. I just walked as far as I could each day. When I first started walking I could only do maybe a half a mile, but I worked my way up.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 241 pounds. I am currently 177 pounds. I am 4’11”.
How long did your transformation take?
My transformation took two years. I still have more goals I want to reach next year.
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
Do not give up so soon!! Weight loss is a journey. It’s not a quick race. Every small change counts and the scale of just one aspect. There are other ways to track progress and keep you motivated, like measuring inches lost instead. Stay motivated with friends also. It’s important to have a good support system.
