Weight Loss Success Story of the Day: Shatoya lost 128 pounds with weight loss surgery and hard work. She learned how to change her eating habits to fit her needs, started walking for exercise and make the choice to live a healthier life. Here is what she shared about her journey…
I started my weight loss journey in 2013 when I made the decision to get weight loss surgery. Some people may think this was an easy answer however it wasn’t. I had to push myself that much harder to loss the weight. Yes, I am unable to eat a lot of food but I still can eat all the foods I want to, like candy, cookies and all the junk food I want (in smaller portions). However, I had to change my mindset overall and my eating habits, which I did. Now, I eat much better and a lot less. Today, in 2014, I have lost over 100 lbs. I have not hit my goal yet but I will get there. So, I say keep at it you can do it no matter how hard it gets you can make it. No matter how much weight you want to lose keep going don’t stop.
What was your motivation?
I got tired of being unable to play with my nieces and nephew and when my niece was born she was unable to sit on my lap. I was tired of being unable to walk a block without stopping and catching my breath. I started to research weight loss surgery.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started to drink more water, eat more fruits and vegetable and smaller portions. I stopped eating a lot of junk food. I also stopped piling my plate up with food and forcing myself to eat.
What did your workout routines look like?
I started to visit the gym three times of week for an hour. I walked on the treadmill and also I walked during my lunch break and on the days I did not visit the gym.
What was your starting weight? 378 pounds
What is your current weight? 250 pounds
What advice do you have for others who want to lose weight?
My advice is to stay with it. It will be hard, but it can be done. Stay determined and focus.
