BWLW’s March Weight Release Goals – It’s time to commit to new goals for March, Ladies. This month we are keeping it simple. We have 2 main goals for the month:
– We commit to exercising 6 days per week for 45 minutes minimum per workout session.
– No eating out for 30 days – No fast food, no restaurants, etc.
So that means that many of you will be cooking more and looking for meal plan ideas. If you would like a detailed healthy meal plan that can serve as a guide, please consider using EatingWell.com’s 28 day challenge meal plan and recipes during March! Link: www.eatingwell.com/diet_health/weight_loss_diet_plans/diet_meal_plans/diet_challenge
How do you participate/sign up?
No sign up necessary. To participate all you have to do is check-in. Each weekend we will check-in on the BWLW Facebook or on our online community, www.blackwomenlosingweight.com, and share how we are doing with the challenge goals to stay accountable to one another. Only you can truly know how well you are adhering to the goals. Be truthful with yourself and do your best!
What about healthy eating in restaurants?
First, let me say that we are avoiding fast food at all cost. No highly processed, fatty, sugary, mess.
Sure, if you have to eat out or if you find yourself in a restaurant you can have a very healthy meal. What are we talking about? What can you eat? Salads, fish (lean and prepared with out a lot of butter or oils), grilled or steamed veggies (no fats, salt, etc added). The goal is to NOT eat processed and prepared foods that you find in most eating establishments. That is why we are avoiding them. You want to cook and prepare your own food from the market as much as possible.

I’m up for the change already working out have to stick to eating healthy.
Bella Natural says
Yes. Im definitely up for this challenge! The only thing im finding difficult is drinking enough water…..good luck ladies!
Belle says
I strongly suggest buying a water bottle that has measurements on it in that way you can visually see how much water you drink and how much more you should. Helped me out alot 🙂
Albie says
I would suggest you buy the big bottles of “smart water.” They are at Sam’s club and BJ”s. Four of the big bottles is perfect, but start with finishing one a day. That’s how I started “measuring” my water intake.
Lisa JW says
You’re not alone! Water is my biggest challenge. Sometimes, I’ll drink Dear Park’s 8oz bottles. It’s easier to drink more water in smaller doses sometimes.
Good luck to you too!
Denise says
I purchased a 24 oz Camelback water bottle. I refill it once a day using the Brita filtered water from the refrigerator. Sometimes I refill it from the gym. It costs about $18. It is worth the price.
Gia says
Well I saw this post on Facebook and decided this sounds like the direction I’m headed in anyway so it could only help. I am pumped. Hopefully this will help me along the way by making me more accountable. Good Luck Everyone!

Eat Vegan 6 days and (drinking only liquids only 2-3 of the 6 days) and slightly splurge with protein (fish/meat), dairy and complex carbs on Sundays. Workout 4 x’s a week for an hour+. My body really needs the recovery of the 3 off days as my workouts are extremely intense! Purposing to avoid over exertion. On my way to a six pack! 😉

Peace and Blessings,

Hello everyone
Like many of U I’ve been on this weight coaster time and time again. I haven’t eaten meat since Ash Wednesday ( 1st time observing Lent) Ive felt the diff less sluggish. Of Course I thought I wld have loss some weight but I haven’t guessing drinking alcohol every night after getting off work (I work the 2nd shift ) just to whine down and on the weekends wld contribute to not losing any weight. But anyway LADIES I’m tried of the depression that swoops over me about being fat over weight( yes swoops). So I starting yesterday walking 3 miles on my Bow-flex. Working 2nd shift makes it difficult for me to get to sleep & getting up in the morning! Plus not eat until mid afternoon doesn’t help. But I’m not giving up I STRIVE to take it one day at a time for focusing my self up and eat within that hour of getting up and WALK my 3 Miles. Signing off sick of crying sick of slowly dying! Any suggestion that may help

Count me in! I’ve been hitting the gym consistently for 6 days a week 1-1/2 hours per day. I have lost 10 pounds since January 7, but it takes me about 2 weeks to lose 2 pounds. I’ve lost weight before with TaeBo and I guess with my body, it takes me about 2 wks to lose 2 pounds. Anyway, I exercise, but I need to incorporate drinking more water. Unfortunately, my reflux doesn’t allow me to drink sodas and sweet tea, so I drink only water, but get bored. So, it’s on now…Stay encouraged!
Tequila says

I’ve been a “big girl” all my life. My first bad experience was being told to wear a white tutu for dance because I couldn’t fit the pink all the other girls wore. I was 9 then, I’m 33, 210lbs and 5’3″. I’m not superficial but I’m tired of being tired, boxed in, and unable to dress how I want to. My goal is to drop 60-70lbs. I’m ready to wear that pink tutu!
Debra says
BOUGHT MY DRINK GREEN SMOOTHIES ISSUE A WEEK AGO, JUST STARTED 02/12/13 REALLY ENJOYED THE VERY GREEN FIXED ENOUGH FOR MY BREAKFAST THIS MORNING. i AM ABOUT 5’3 AND 226 POUNDS HAVE LOST WEIGHT BEFORE BUT NEED TO DO IT HEALTHY THIS TIME. NEED A MOTIVATER TO KEEP ON TRACT….HIT ME BACK.

Thanks I need a meal planner, I just started living right and I’m so happy,my Wellness Program Coordinator Cynthia said I did Great job! and I lose weight, and my lung capacity has really improved so it shows I have been doing good with my cardio exercises but I know I could have done more. Next time watch out scale LOL I worked out for my 30mins after my meeting. maybe the next time I’ll join the next challenge, I know it’s too late now
deegee says
It’s never too late. Never put off today for tomorrow. the first step is the hardest. Walking is always good. You can walk the halls of your home, walk steps in the building…Take a stroll around the mall (a couple of times, vowing not to stop but to walk through the major dept stores through EVERY department) Walmart, Home Depot any large area works…who says you have to spend money?
Tarryne says
I haven’t really been active in the group. I see a lot of great things happening. I will challenge myself to this months challenge. I have been working out every other day for an hour. And I eat out almost everyday. But, when I eat out I choose the healthier items on the menu. I challenge myself to prepare meals at home and purchase healthy snacks from the grocery store to assist with the March Challenge. Thanks for the encouragement.
Courtney Plush says
I haven’t done the working out everyday this month since I’ve been sick since February with breathing problems, but I’m back on track and just logged 4.28 miles in walking/running. I also haven’t eaten out since the beginning of January, which was a personal goal that I’ve continued just to do well on this challenge. 10k here I come.
Prettiriki says
Refocusing on me…I got a little side track but back at it… Day 3 of 1hour working… and eating clean… loving how I feel …hoping I can keep this up.
Lisa Bridges says
I am on board though I got a late start. Looking forward to sharing results with the group. So far I’ve lost 31 pounds over a period of 6 months. Still have a way to go to get to my goal weight and I will get there!!! Oh yes, I will get there!!! Hang in there ladies, God Bless 🙂
deegee says
Okay, I am in two weeks late…but better than never. So my quest is the 1/2 March Challenge…45 minutes a day I am consistent-my challenge is eating out (although i believe I make healthy choices-hi protein, lo carb and sugar)
deegee says
