Transformation of the Day: Dr. Regina lost 30 pounds and transformed her body. She is a single mom and a busy ER doctor working 24 hour shifts, but she took a no excuses approach to changing her lifestyle. Check out what she shared with us about her journey.
After my mother passed away in 2016 from complications due to diabetes, hypertension and kidney failure, I decided I needed to change my lifestyle if I wanted to be able to be around to care for and raise my 4 year old daughter. I hired a nutritionist and a personal trainer. Then, I got into beast mode.
I lost 30 pounds. Next, I started competing in fitness contests. When other women saw my pictures, they would message me about how I inspired them to change their lifestyle as well. I am a single mother of a 4 year old, work 24 hour shifts as an ER doctor, but took a no excuses approach to losing weight and becoming healthier. After hearing how I inspired other women, I decided to start my own fitness company, “Fit and Fine in no Time.” I do online fitness coaching. I also have my own line of fat burners, protein shakes, an app and fitness equipment.
Starting weight: 150 pounds
Current weight: 125 pounds. My weight was lower, but have been putting on muscle weight in preparation for competition.
Height: 5’6″
How did you change your eating habits?
I initially cut out sodas and fast food. I worked with a nutritionist to find a balanced diet that fit my lifestyle. When I’m preparing for competitions, I’m on a high protein, low carb diet with 5-6 meals a day.
What did your workout routines look like?
I do an hour of cardio and 2 hours of training with a personal trainer, 3-4 times a week. I do an hour of cardio a day on the days that I don’t work with a trainer. I also do crunches, push-ups, donkey kicks, fire hydrants, etc. at home on a daily basis.
What advice would you share with other women who want to transform their bodies and their lifestyle?
It doesn’t happen overnight. There are no quick fixes. There will be difficult times when you want to give up. Don’t, because it will be worth it in the long run!
